Jacob’s Pillow is among the world’s premier dance venues, offering an intensive schedule of performances, workshops, and events during the summer months in its multi-stage venue in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. To expand and engage audiences globally, the organization has created the Virtual Pillow, gathering videos of performances and other programming. The searchable archive Dance Interactive features short clips of dance performances from the 1930s to the present, allowing users to easily peruse curated playlists or search footage by artist, genre, or era. A Guess feature on Dance Interactive lets users test their knowledge while also delving into archival footage and resources. Pillow TV presents videos of festival performance excerpts, post-performance discussions, interviews, short documentaries, narrated tours, behind-the-scenes highlights, and curated playlists. The video series PillowTalks brought together established choreographers, dancers, authors, historians, filmmakers, and critics for discussions about cultural forces shaping the field of dance.

Jacob’s Pillow complements its investment in video production and archiving with a vigorous social media presence that helps ensure materials are used and shared.
